<>Workshops presentations will be in 1, 2, or 4 hour blocks.   For fledgling and beginner signers, blocks should be 1 hour only.  Only one 3-hour block will be accepted and that is for the Thursday afternoon preconference session.

The Silent Weekend has four levels:  (1) Fledgling signers (participants knowing no sign language whatsoever.  Presenters will use voicing for this group only and teach basic ASL grammar and vocabulary); (2) Beginning signers (these participants are able to sign very short fragments, have memorized-like signing); (3) Intermediate signers (these participants are able to maintain a short conversation using 2 to 3 sentences with some creativity in ASL); (4) Advanced signers (these participants are able to carry a spontaneous conversation using directional verbs, topic/'comment, conditional sentences, indexing, etc) including RID interpreters.
Presenters will receive payment of $120.00 per workshop hour. Conference registration, travel (20 cents per mile or round trip airfare, whichever is less) and one-half of a double occupancy hotel room for Thursday and Friday nights only (if you want a private room, you are responsible for the extra cost which is approximately $70 per night and will be subtracted from your honorarium and if you wish to arrive earlier and/or stay later, you must make your own arrangements with the hotel by calling the reservations department at 800 588-4656.  Identify yourself as an attendee of the Silent Weekend)  is included for those presenting 8-9 hours.  For those teaching 10 or more hours, the hotel room will be private at no additional cost.   For less than 8 hours, only honorarium will be given and no travel or lodging reimbursement.
If you want to have a co-presenter, this MAY be allowed but the co-presenter will only be paid an honorarium of $80 per hour and not be provided travel, lodging, or registration.  Make sure your proposed co-presenter is aware of these restrictions.
Presenters must arrive at the hotel no later than 3 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011.  Each presenter must introduce their topics at the Thursday night orientation.
Presenters must be willing to go to their assigned areas and must  be able to start their presentations on time and continue for the full allocated time with none or minimal assistance from the silent weekend staff (your requested equipment will be ready and waiting for you).  Laptops will not be provided and you should be thoroughly familiar on how to adjust your laptop so you can see an image on your screen and the LCD screen.  Based on our experience at various conferences, many presenters didn't know how to set up their PowerPoint presentation!  If you don't know how to use PowerPoint, we have plenty of overhead projectors for you to use!

NOTE:  We will not supply computers or laptops.  If you have a Mac, bring your VGA adaptor!  You should know how to adjust/'modify your display/monitoer control as each laptop is different.  The reason why is that after you hook up the LCD projector and start up your laptop, there may be no image on the LCD screen or your laptop's screen.   One of the F keys on the top row should allow you to quickly correct the situation.

Only 20 presenters will be selected --- beginning June 1, 2010 please complete the application and send in with a resume.

Presenters will be finalized beginning September 2010.  If selected, you will need to:
