Do Not Pass Go Yet!
This workshop will focus on examining
BIG money
and economy signed vocabulary. BIG money refers to the thousands and
millions! Some of the economy vocabulary includes signs such as
NEGOTIATE, VALUE, and RESIDENCE. To ensure comprehension retention, we
will
play a custom-made game of "So You Want To Be A Bingo Millionaire".
This Bingo game will allow for an extensive review of all money and
value signs
needed to play a full fledged game of the new u-build Monopoly.
Ethics
of Interpreting for Real: I
don’t think we are in Kansas anymore
-- 2 hours for
advanced/interpreters
Interpreting students
learn
great textbook ethics. The textbook ethics do not necessarily outline
what can really
happen in the Sign Language interpreting realm. This workshop will
provide
the beginning interpreting student with real life and actual
experiences. The personal spin provided by this workshop will provide
insight
about ethical issues that may never have been discussed in your classes
or
among your classmates. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss
these
issues with their peers to gain various perspectives and better prepare
them
for the real world of Interpreting.
